A Ugandan woman has taken legal action against her American husband in a case that has now attracted widespread public attention both in Uganda and online.

Rachael Kalule filed a case at the Family Court in Kampala accusing her husband, Greg Cunningham, of entering into another marriage while they were still legally married. According to reports surrounding the case, Kalule claims that Cunningham allegedly eloped with another woman identified as Dorah Nampijja despite their marriage remaining legally recognized.

The couple reportedly have four children together, making the dispute even more emotional for those following the story. Kalule is said to have presented marriage records and other court documents to support her claims that their union had not been dissolved when the alleged second relationship began.

The matter has triggered intense debate on social media, with many people sharing mixed reactions about marriage, loyalty and legal accountability. Some sympathized with Kalule, arguing that such actions can deeply affect families and children, while others questioned how international relationships often become complicated due to cultural and personal differences.

Under Ugandan law, bigamy is considered a criminal offence. If found guilty, an individual can face legal penalties including imprisonment or a fine. Legal experts say the outcome of the case will largely depend on whether the court confirms that the first marriage was still legally active at the time the alleged second marriage took place.

As the court proceedings continue in Kampala, many people remain closely interested in the case, which has quickly become one of the most talked about relationship controversies online.
