Waithaka had travelled more than 8,000 miles from Kenya to attend his grandson’s high school graduation, a milestone his loved ones say he had been eagerly anticipating for months. Instead of celebrating with family, he vanished without a trace on the very morning he arrived.

According to investigators, Waithaka left his son’s home in the Timberline neighborhood near Merion Drive on the morning of May 15, 2025.
