From a TSC Teacher in Iten to the United States Army: Haroun’s Inspiring 10 Year Journey
A Decade That Changed Everything
In 2016, Haroun was a 26 year old TSC teacher serving at St Patrick’s High School in Iten, Kenya. Like many young professionals at the time, he dedicated his days to shaping students in the classroom while building hopes for a brighter future.
A photo captured during those years showed him seated at his desk in the school staffroom, a simple but powerful reminder of humble beginnings and determination.
Ten years later, the story has transformed remarkably.
Today in 2026, Haroun is living in the United States and proudly serving in the United States Army, one of the most respected and powerful military institutions in the world. He describes the last decade as the most amazing chapter of his adult life, marked by sacrifice, discipline, education, growth, and achievement.
Education and Service
Beyond military service, Haroun has also built a strong academic foundation that has shaped his understanding of leadership, governance, and policy.
He is a proud holder of a Master of Public Administration from a top university in Ohio, United States, graduating with the Class of 2019. His postgraduate studies equipped him with advanced knowledge in public leadership, governance systems, policy implementation, and administration.
Before moving to the United States, Haroun studied at the University of Nairobi in Kenya, where he majored in History and Government during his undergraduate education.
The combination of academic excellence and military experience has given him a unique perspective on matters of governance, leadership, and public policy.
Speaking With Experience and Credibility
Haroun says that whenever he speaks boldly about governance, leadership, and policy issues, he does so from a place of education, experience, and service.
Having studied governance academically and practiced leadership within a highly disciplined military structure, he believes his voice carries credibility built through years of hard work and commitment.
According to him, very few Kenyans can match the combination of credentials, experience, and exposure he has earned over the years.
A Journey of Hard Work and Determination
Haroun’s story reflects the journey of many Kenyans abroad who continue to pursue excellence while representing their country on the global stage.
From teaching in a Kenyan high school staffroom to serving in the American military and earning advanced academic qualifications, his journey stands as a testimony to resilience, ambition, and determination.
For Haroun, the American dream has not simply been about relocation. It has been about growth, service, education, and building a legacy through discipline and hard work.
